Parker area residents are invited to attend the Police Department’s free 10-week Citizen's Police Academy program. This program gives participants first-hand information about how the Police Department operates. Classes will focus on criminal law, mounted patrol, evidence, dispatch, traffic laws, accident reconstruction, DUI laws, K-9, youth education programs and many other topics. In addition to the interactive classes, there is an optional trip to the law enforcement firearms training facility where participants will have the opportunity to fire weapons used by the police officers. All attendees will also be invited to participate in a graduation at the end of the program.
This informative and fun class requires a commitment of one night a week from 6 to 9 p.m. for 10 weeks. All classes are held on Thursday nights, with the optional Saturday class at the shooting range.
Participation is limited to 40 people ages 18 and older and Town of Parker residents will be given priority.
Participation in the Parker Police Citizens Academy is a privilege and not a guarantee for members of the public. Any criteria not met regarding background requirements, disruptive class room behavior, actions that detract from a positive learning environment, or failing to participate in the program may result in being removed from participation at any time.
